IFRP Food Distribution

One of my many hats that I wear down here at Espwa is managing the IFRP Food Distribution. We distribute a vitamin enriched rice to all of our students at all five of our schools.

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of going to a small girls orphanage outside of Camp Perrin to distribute 20 boxes of VitaFood. This orphanage of 35 girls is struggling to make ends meet, like so many other small orphanages across Haiti. We are happy to provide them with food when we can, and hope to be doing more outreach projects in the near future.

Ninjas

Donald and his crew have been working hard at getting the first two homes in the girls' village up. They are training approximately 20 of the young adults in a new method of building that uses steel, and will be more stable and insulated.

The little boys have been helping out by collecting scraps and making ninja costumes out of them. Oh the things our boys do with trash...

Back at Espwa

It has been about two weeks since I have been back, and this is the first opportunity I have had to update my blog.

A lot has happened in the past couple weeks. We lost one of our teens, Jean Bertho, who drowned in the ocean while on a day trip to the beach. We lost one of our teachers, who passed due to an illness. A dear friend lost his father- in- law unexpectedly. And all in two weeks. For these reasons, and the mere fact that I have been adjusting to living here again, I have not been able to update.

As in the past, I will do my best to update as often as possible... with pictures... should internet allow.

Thanks to everyone for keeping updated on my happenings down here!

Talk to you soon!!
